About the services

Made for everyone.
Yes, you too.

Services with Chabad of Venice are designed to make everyone feel welcome and at home — whether this is your fiftieth Rosh Hashanah in shul or your first. Here's what to expect when you walk in.

Hebrew–English prayer books

Follow along in whichever language works for you, with page announcements so you're never lost. Absorb the experience at your own level.

Lively & engaging

Prayers spiced with inspiring tunes and insightful explanations throughout — services that carry you, not services you sit through.

No labels

Reform or Conservative, Orthodox or unaffiliated, Sefardi or Ashkenazi, well-versed or unversed — at Chabad the labels fall away, as all stand equally beloved before G-d.

Sermons that speak to you

Sermons and announcements speak to every participant — always topical, relevant, stimulating and enlightening.

Reserve

Save your family's seats.

Two minutes, and we'll have your seats, your names, and your honey cake ready. Reserving is free — contributions and sponsorships are optional.

Yizkor Memorial Book

Their names, remembered.

Yizkor is the memorial prayer recited for loved ones who have passed, honoring their memory and soul. Each year, our Yizkor Memorial Book carries their names into the Yizkor services on Yom Kippur.

Submit the names of those you're remembering — and if you were in last year's book, one tap brings your names forward so you don't retype a thing.

Questions

Everything you're wondering.

Do I need to be a member or buy a ticket?
No. There is no membership requirement and no ticket price — every seat is open to every Jew. A suggested contribution of $180 per seat helps us cover the holidays, but no one is ever turned away.
I've never been to a synagogue service. Will I be lost?
You'll be in good company. Our services are warm and easy to follow, with English-Hebrew prayer books, page announcements, and explanations throughout. Come as you are.
What about my kids?
Bring them! We run a Junior Congregation on Rosh Hashanah, a dedicated Children's Program on Yom Kippur, and a Family Rosh Hashanah Program — plus the famous buffet kiddush they'll actually want to stay for.
I can't attend in person. Can you still keep me in mind?
Yes — request a "spiritual seat" on the reservation form and we'll have you in mind at the Shofar blowing and Yizkor. It's a beautiful way to be part of the community from wherever you are.
When do I hear the Shofar this year?
Rosh Hashanah Day 1 falls on Shabbat, so the Shofar is sounded on Day 2 (Sunday, September 13) — at the 11:45 AM sounding, or the 6:00 PM short service with Tashlich if mornings don't work for you.
