At Chabad of Venice, we’re dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming, and supportive community. As we all know, our area is multiplying, and so it’s more important now than ever to ensure everyone has the chance to connect and feel supported. To us, that means:

  • New arrivals feel invited to our holiday programs, Torah classes, and all our fantastic community events.
  • Attendees of our JLI classes and community seder walk away with (not only knowledge or an experience but also) great friends — people they continue to stay in touch with after the program ends.
  • Families and couples in the community, who we know would hit it off, have the chance to meet and connect personally.

Introducing Community Connectors

These are among the many reasons why we’re launching Community Connectors, a program that pairs outgoing ambassadors with community members searching for more: more Jewish life, more friends, more experiences. These ambassadors will play the critical role of our community’s glue.

What makes a Connector

You may very well know of (or be) an ambassador already! These people introduce friends from different circles to one another, invite new acquaintances over for a Friday night dinner or Sunday brunch, and love sharing what they learn with the people around them.

The program

With the goal of bolstering Jewish community life, it’s no surprise that connectors will spend time discussing our community and… Jewish life. There will be get-togethers focusing on topics like:

  • Need-to-know info for hosting a specific holiday meal (think Rosh Hashana or Passover)
  • Upcoming community events to potentially bring ‘connectees’ together
  • Mitzvah awareness on the basics like blessings, mezuzahs, and kosher

In addition to these gatherings, connectors will serve as an extension of the Chabad team of Rabbis and Rebbetzins, assisting new arrivals in getting more involved or bringing over a holiday gift.

Building on our success

Community Connectors is the latest addition to our suite of volunteer programs, including Loaves of Love and Smile on Seniors.

  • Loaves of Love delivers freshly baked goods and warm meals to those in need, providing comfort and sustenance during difficult times.
  • Smile on Seniors pairs volunteers with homebound seniors for regular visits and activities, combating loneliness and isolation.

These programs have been instrumental in bringing our community together, supporting those in need, and fostering a sense of compassion and connection.

Join the movement

We invite you to our Volunteer Breakfast, where you can learn more about Community Connectors and our other volunteer programs. This is a unique opportunity to be part of something special, to make a real difference in the lives of others, and to help build a stronger, more joyous community.
