Rachel and Michael Gordon joined the Chabad of Venice community about four years ago and quickly became cherished members of our Jewish family. They came seeking connection to Yiddishkeit and community, but just as naturally they gave of themselves. Rachel was always ready to volunteer, offering her time, warmth, and kindness in many ways that quietly strengthened our community.

Together with her husband Michael, Rachel was a fixture at nearly every holiday celebration — High Holidays, Purim, Passover, and more — contributing to the warmth and joy at each event with her unmistakable smile.

Sadly, Rachel passed away on November 11, 2024, and her loss was deeply felt by her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.

In a beautiful expression of her commitment to Jewish life, Rachel arranged to leave a legacy gift to Chabad of Venice. Her generous gift is now being used to establish the Venice Jewish Legacy Fund.

The fund is structured as an endowed fund, where the principal is preserved and invested while the earnings help support community programs, educational initiatives, and meaningful Jewish experiences year after year. Through this thoughtful gift, Rachel’s love for the community will continue to uplift and strengthen Jewish life for generations to come.

Legacy gifts like Rachel’s leave a powerful and lasting impact, ensuring that the light of Jewish life, learning, and community continues to shine for generations to come.

May Rachel Gordon’s memory continue to be a blessing and an inspiration to our entire community.
